Free Annual Mistletoe Party at Oroville’s Historic C.F. Lott Home
From a City of Oroville Press Release
The Friends of the Parks and the City of Oroville will host a festive mistletoe party at the historic C.F. Lott Home on Sunday December 3, 2017, from noon until 4:00 P.M. In 1856 Judge Charles F. Lott held a joyful holiday party for all Orovillians to meet and welcome his new bride Susan Hyer Lott and history tells us that it was a fun time for all who attended.
The Friends of the Parks renewed the annual event in 1970 to honor the opening of the C.F. Lott Home to the public and to continue the ageless tradition of the community gathering started by Judge Lott. The Friends of the Parks have been a main-stay in helping keep this historic home open by spearheading many improvement projects including the recently completed installation of new carpeting.
The free fun afternoon will have holiday music, cookies and punch, special gifts and an opportunity to tour the beautifully furnished and decorated historical home. Traditional bell ringers from the Trinity Church will be performing at 1:30 P.M. Long-time Oroville docent and Friends of the Parks member Janice Clay said; “We are fortunate, for the 47th year, to be able to carry on this traditional event and to be able to share it with the community who are invited to a free delightful holiday visit in a beautifully furnished home with local historical significance”.
The C.F. Lott Home in Sank Park is located at 1067 Montgomery Street, Oroville. The home features two full floors of tastefully displayed period furnishings, a carriage house with a beautifully restored 1922 Buick Touring car, caretaker’s cottage, picturesque gazebo, and a full city block of manicured gardens. The home also has a gift shop with unique items including copies of Cordelia Lott’s cookbook.
