California State Parks, in conjunction with the Department of Water Resources and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, announces the Winter Family Goose Hunt.
The hunt takes place Friday, December 15 through Monday, December 18, at the North Thermalito Forebay in Lake Oroville State Recreation Area.
Registration for hunting permits starts Monday, December 4 at the Northern Buttes District office, located at 400 Glen Drive in Oroville from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (closed from noon to 1:00 p.m. for lunch).
Only five hunting parties are allowed each day on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations must be made in person; no phone in reservations will be accepted.
Permits are available for families (defined as a minimum of one adult age 18 or older and one junior hunter and a maximum of two adults with four juniors). A junior hunter is a person age 17 and under.
Gas and electric powered boat motors will be allowed. Hunting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to noon each day. Access by the general public to the North Thermalito Forebay will be closed until noon each day of the hunt.
All bag limits, licenses, waterfowl validations, and method of take shall follow DFW codes and regulations.
