The Alpha Beta Chapter of Omega Nu is a local sisterhood sorority of women whose purpose is charity. They want to give back to the city of Oroville as much as they can, and they do this by helping and participating in various projects including the El Medio Fire Dept., Children’s Protective Services, Red Ribbon Week, Oroville Rescue Mission, STAGE, YMCA, The Axiom, and Butte County Search & Rescue. They also give out scholarships to both Chico State University and Butte College students.

In November Omega Nu donated to the Oroville Rescue Mission. Grand Treasurer Debbie Moore, local Omega Nu chapter President Kari D’ Andrea, Steve Terry, and Peg Malmgren, local Omega Nu chapter Treasurer, dropped off the donation as you can see on Omega Nu’s Facebook page.

Omega Nu also holds fundraisers throughout the year. On December 31 they will be hosting a “Puttin’ on the Glitz” New Year’s Eve Party at the Oroville Inn Ballroom. This event will benefit the Veteran’s Memorial Flag Pole. There will be food, a no-host bar, music, games and prizes, a silent auction, and a champagne toast at midnight. Tickets are $35 per person and sponsorships are available. For more information on the event, click here.
