Explore Butte County (EBC), a newly formed Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) for Butte County with the core mission of promoting tourism has opened the application period for zone marketing funding.

Explore Butte County’s board of directors, comprised mostly of hotel operators representative of the county, created a Zone Marketing Grant Program that grants funding to organizations who demonstrate they will promote tourism to Butte County. Funds will be distributed based on specific jurisdictions within the County that the applicants self-select during the application process.  The board will be reviewing applications for a variety of tourism-related initiatives including projects, special events, seminars and collateral creation that increase the marketing reach of Butte County to potential visitors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

“The zone marketing program allows organizations to raise awareness and grow attendance at their events and programs that bring people to Butte County to stay overnight,” said Bruce Spangler, president of EBC board of directors and general manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Oroville.  “We highly encourage organizations seeking marketing dollars that have the ability to drive tourism to apply.”

Consideration for grant funding will be based on the applicant’s marketing plan and demonstrated ability to affect tourism to the selected jurisdiction in Butte County. Funding is available based on the geography that the applicant serves including Chico, Oroville, Paradise or unincorporated areas of Butte County. Applicants must complete the entire application electronically by 5:00 PM on March 31, 2018.

About the Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID)

Explore Butte County is a non-profit organization established in November 2015 to oversee the management of TBID funds. Explore Butte County is managed by a board of directors comprised primarily of Butte County lodging property representatives. The TBID’s main purpose is to promote future travel and highlight amenities of participating jurisdictions, including unincorporated Butte County, Chico, Oroville, Paradise, and Biggs; with a goal of growing regional tourism resulting in increased economic spending within the region.
