Although the Oroville Evacuation does not currently meet the agency’s definition of a disaster, Darrell Dante will be talking about currently available resources as well as what steps to take in case a disaster is declared. He was involved in efforts with Hurricane Katrina and can share key lessons from that experience with the business community.

8:00 – 9:15 am – Small Business Resources

The Small Business Administration (SBA) will be presenting information about small business resources available to help you start or grow your business. This will provide an overview of all the resources available through the SBA for your business. Topics will include: how to qualify for and recieve an SBA loan; finding and qualifying for available government contracts; obtaining specialized certificates.

 

9:30 – 11:30 am – Unclaimed Property

The California State Controller’s Office will be presenting about Unclaimed Property. California’s Unclaimed Property Law requires banks, insurance companies, corporations, and certain other entities to report and submit their customers’ property to the State Controller’s Office when there has been no activity for a period of time (generally three years). Common types of unclaimed property are bank accounts, stocks, bonds, uncashed checks, insurance benefits, wages, and safe deposit box contents. Our Unclaimed Property Division’s Outreach and Compliance unit provides education and resources for businesses and organizations to comply with the law and be relieved of financial liabilities having to do with unclaimed property.

 

12:30 – 2:30 pm – How to “Right Size” Your IT

In the changing IT landscape there are many areas to consider when planning for your information and technology needs. Questions such as, how do I keep my costs low? How do I keep my information safe? How can I protect my current IT investment as I grow the business? In this two hours talk we will review these areas and much more as we discover how to right size IT.
